Doodhpathri
Doodhpathri, meaning the “Valley of Milk,” is a hidden gem located in the Budgam district of Kashmir, about 42 km from Srinagar. Nestled at an altitude of 8,957 feet, this breathtaking meadow is known for its lush green pastures, rolling hills, dense pine forests, and crystal-clear streams that flow through its landscapes, resembling milk—hence its name.
Unlike the more commercialized tourist spots, Doodhpathri offers tranquility and untouched natural beauty, making it an ideal destination for nature lovers, trekkers, and photographers. The valley remains covered in snow during winters, offering a stunning white landscape, while summers bring lush greenery, colorful wildflowers, and a cool, refreshing breeze.
The Shaliganga River, with its icy-cold and pristine water, adds to the charm of the place. Visitors can enjoy pony rides, trekking, picnics, and camping in this peaceful retreat. Due to its offbeat nature, Doodhpathri remains relatively less crowded, making it perfect for those looking to experience Kashmir’s raw and untouched beauty.
